RallyRACC 2024

From October 24 to 27, 2024
Costa Daurada, Tarragona

The 2024 RallyRACC Costa Daurada, also known as the Rally de España, is part of the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) season. Here’s what we know about the event so far:

Key Information:
  • Dates: The 2024 RallyRACC Costa Daurada will take place from October 24 to 27, 2024.
  • Location: It will again be held in the Costa Daurada region of Catalonia, Spain. The rally is based around the city of Salou and Tarragona.
  • Surface: The rally will feature a mix of asphalt and gravel stages, with the majority of the event taking place on asphalt. This has been a signature aspect of the Spanish event in recent years.
Format:

The format will likely follow the tradition of previous years, with competitive stages running on both days of the rally, primarily focusing on the beautiful coastal region and surrounding mountains. The 2024 edition will likely feature speed tests in areas such as Salou, Tarragona, and the mountains around the Costa Daurada.

Teams & Drivers:
  • Expect the top WRC teams like Toyota Gazoo Racing, Hyundai Motorsport, and M-Sport Ford to compete.
  • Sébastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans, and Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota), along with Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), will be among the top drivers expected to battle for the podium. The Spanish event is often a critical part of the championship chase, and as such, major contenders for the 2024 WRC title will be focused on delivering strong results.
Significance:
  • The rally is often an important turning point in the WRC title battle, particularly for the drivers’ championship and manufacturers’ standings. Given its mix of asphalt stages, tire management and weather conditions often come into play as major factors in determining the outcome.
The Challenge:
  • Weather: Weather conditions in the region can vary, with dry conditions often making the rally fast and demanding, while rain can make the stages slippery and more difficult for tire choices.
  • Stages: The event typically features challenging and technical stages, with tight corners, mountain roads, and sections along the Mediterranean coastline.
Future Outlook:

Given how the 2024 WRC season shapes up, the RallyRACC Costa Daurada will likely remain one of the most highly anticipated rallies of the calendar year, not just for the fans, but also for teams and drivers looking to secure vital championship points.
